Being all grown up means......

Throwing fabulous summer brunches in your backyard! Oh I am so excited for this. As I'm sure everyone in the blogosphere realizes, I heavily peruse the wedding blogs and am always inspired by the things that they do. Well my inspiration for our grown up summer brunch came from a shoot done on Green Wedding Shoes inspired by the movie "(500) Days of Summer." The thing that really pushed me over the edge to make it happen was receiving a beautiful platter and appetizer plates from my Aunt Betsy. It made me think, "Hmmm....time to get this grown up party started." So without further ado, my inspiration for brunch.

I hope those attending are super excited because it is going to be pretty freaking awesome.

Love at first sight

I don't know what has come over me but I've definitely been bitten by the wedding bug. I am itching to try on wedding dresses but so nervous about the process. We have 421 days until our wedding so trying on a dress now just seems silly but I can't wait to do it!

When we first got engaged this was the dress that I saw myself in. OK, who am I kidding......I found this dress before we got engaged but didn't want to be that weirdo who started looking before she had a ring.

I also really liked these.

But the more I watch shows like "Say Yes To the Dress" and "Girl Meets Gown" the more I change my mind about what kind of dress I want. This is such a hard decision and now is certainly not the time to be trying on wedding dresses with so much time to go before the big day.

Back in January Bobby and I decided to get healthier and drop some pounds. After 6 months I am down 17 lbs and he's down about 30. I continued to eat healthy but gave up on my rigorous exercise routine....oh....4 months ago. I'm not sure what spurted it but Bobby's back on the exercise kick and wants to lose another 25 lbs before the summer's over and I'd like to lose the remaining 15 I need to be skinnier than I was in high school (and my ideal weight for the big day). This is why now REALLY isn't the time for me to try on dresses. In addition to hating my body (which I'm sure will happen because wedding dresses run small and I have ginormous boobs), buying one now means letting it sit around once alterations are done, waiting for me to really wear it.

Well...we'll see in a couple of months when I finally bite the bullet and try stuff on what I decide on.

365 down.......a lifetime to go

A year ago today I went on my last first date and couldn't be any happier. It's crazy to think about all of the milestones we've hit in this past year. Bobby bought a house, we moved in together, I started teaching up at Kinnelon, we had our first Christmas with a ginormous Christmas tree, we went on our first vacation together, my nephew was born, we got engaged, and here we are planning our wedding for next year

Oh what a wonderful year :)

So many presents....so many thank you notes

Yesterday was our engagement party at Bobby's parents' house. Thankfully the weather held out for us and everyone had a great time. We ended up spending the night up there because we had quite a few cocktails along with many of our guests and had to load up the car and clean up a bit hungover this morning. Bobby and I are very proud of ourselves however. We were able to unpack everything and write all of our thank you notes in less than 24 hours.

It's amazing how much stuff you get and it's so exciting opening everything and finding a place for it in the house (most of the stuff went up to the attic until after the wedding....or it's currently in our dishwasher getting ready to be used). We've also found a new love for crate and barrel. In addition to being the place where most of our registry stuff is from, we've also now accumulated quite the box collection and in every shape you can imagine.

This is how we do it.....

We took our engagement photos down in Asbury Park and Christine Merson, the photographer, did such an outstanding job. We look forward to working with her in the future :) She really is fantastic and was able to get our engagement photos edited in 24 hours.....but I suck in blog world and am only posting them now...so enjoy :)

STD's -- the non sexual kind

As I was perusing my usual wedding related blogs today I came across a little gem that got me SOOOOO incredibly excited for sending out our Save-The-Dates. We have officially come up with a most incredible idea that ties into our theme so well it's disgusting.......

but you'll have to wait to see what they are :P
